The key element in the delivery of quality training is the instructor. At AFT, we have appointed well qualified and highly motivated instructors bringing a comprehensive range of experience from professional aviation backgrounds, both military and commercial.

We maintain an instructor/student ratio of 1:6 for single-engine and simulator training, and 1:3 for multi-engine training. As a result, instructors are able to closely monitor student progress and respond to individual needs.

Flight Level 500 pilot mentors

Commercial flight training is an intense experience. Our Flight Level 500 pilot mentors provide AFT with a totally unique Professional Development Programme, designed to ensure AFT students are not just flying licence holders but are eligible first officers highly regarded by airlines.

From day one, they look after our students, giving them professional advice and personal support., on the phone and by email 24 hours a day. Students are visited by their FL 500 mentor at least once a month to discuss their development, the industry and to further enhance their knowledge of the commercial role they are going into.

Once students finish their IR, FL500 mentors help them to focus on the jobs market, with our 2 day 'Getting into the Airlines Course'.

The Flight Level 500 Professional Development Programme ensures AFT students are fully prepared for the commercial world of aviation. Alongside flying ability, AFT students have the very highest levels of communication, leadership and management, team work, decision making and situational awareness skills – the key elements of today's commercial first officer, which serve to make an AFT qualification highly regarded in the industry.
